Professor Blair joins the Turner College of Business after a successful career in teaching and research at Mississippi State University. He has been successful in teaching and conducting academic as well as contract research. His main research interests are regional in nature. A University of Florida graduate, he was also assistant professor at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and associate professor at Mississippi State University. He has numerous publications in a variety of areas in microeconomics such as employee job satisfaction, design of contracting mechanisms to solve the principal agent problem, optimal pricing mechanisms for electricity generation, welfare effects of deregulation, and retail gasoline pricing.
The chair was endowed to honor Sarah Turner Butler's commitment to excellence in all things and to enhance the mission of the D. Abbott Turner College of Business that bears her father's name. As holder of the Sarah T. Butler chair, Professor Blair will serve as director of the newly established Butler Center for Business and Economic Research.
